The Brisbane Comedy Festival was established in 2009 and has since become the largest comedy festival in Queensland. This year, the festival runs from 1 March until 27 February and features performances from local and international amateurs and professionals. The show is curated by Brisbane comedian Josh Thomas.
The Brisbane Powerhouse (119 Lamington Street, New Farm) will play host to some of the biggest names in comedy, both in Australia and overseas. Ticket prices differ depending on the act, with novice show tickets priced from $15.00 and the big name shows priced from $30.00 and up.
Irish comedian Jason Byrne, whose frenetic, adult only brand of humour is often a crowd pleaser,
Kitty Flanagan's slightly over the top and possibly offensive (in the most hilarious way) show Charming and Alarming, and
Triple J's Tom Ballard and his one hour show Cognito Ergo Some Funny.
For pre and post show dining, Bar Alto is open Tuesday until Sunday from 9.30am until late and offers alcoholic drinks and light snacks. The waterside restaurant Watt Modern Dining is open Tuesday to Friday from 10.00am and weekends from 8.00am and offers meals, but reservations are essential.
The Brisbane Powerhouse is accessible by CityCat and bus and bike racks are located at the front of the building.
