Attention all model train enthusiasts – this is one to mark on your calendar.
The
Australian Model Railway Association train extravaganza returns in 2011. The 34th annual
Brisbane Model Train Show will take place from Saturday 30 April until Monday 2 May. Doors open at 9.00am and close at 5.00pm on Saturday and Sunday, and 4.00pm on Monday.
The Wool Pavilion at the
RNA Showgrounds (
Gregory Terrace, Bowen Hills) will become the venue for an enormous variety of model trains, railway displays and real trains. See scale versions of real-life train services, such as the
Mary Valley Rattler, or peruse quaint and whimsical displays of imagined places; attend the modelling awards ceremony and marvel at the attention to detail; or sit inside an authentic or replica steam train.
The Brisbane Model Train Show provides myriad activities and attractions for families and model railway enthusiasts. Tickets are $12.00 for adults, $10.00 for concession holders and $6.00 for children aged 5 to 15.
This show is organised annually by the Australian Model Railway Association (
20 Murphy Road, Zillmere), one of the largest live steam train groups in Australia. To keep the model train fun going long after the show has packed up, contact the AMRA Queensland branch via their website to enquire about becoming a member.
