Brisbane Openair Cinema returns in 2011. This is the final event in the
Australian Openair Cinema program, which took place in St Kilda, Melbourne and several locations throughout Sydney.
Brisbane residents are invited to enjoy music and cinema in open air splendour at
The Parklands, South Bank. This event launches on 31 March and runs until 21 May.
The Openair Cinema events take advantage of the mild Australian climate, which sees a large number of residents enjoy recreational activities outdoors. The Rainforest Green will host this event from dusk onwards, with the sunset stage providing live acoustic gigs and a huge outdoor screen playing new release and classic cinema like
Black Swan,
The Kings Speech,
Grease and
Wayne's World (see
here for the full program).
Cinema goers are required to bring their own seating and may bring their own refreshments, although there will be a licensed bar serving food and drink. On Free Scoop Fridays, patrons can enjoy a free scoop of ice cream with their movie, thanks to
Ben and Jerry's.
If you are a singer-songwriter in search of gigs, Openair is looking for musicians to play on the sunset stage before the film. E-mail organisers with your contact details and a link to your
MySpace or
soundcloud.
