I'am a freelance writer living at the moment in Sydney.I believe that each limit hides a new creation, therefore I am hunting the limits. I am interested in finance and economics, monetary reform and the psychology of society.
Event: 29/10/2011 - 30/09/2012
"Contemporary society confronts us with serious and far-reaching challenges. The calls which have arisen for new social structures show us that solutions to these challenges must be sought in ways that have not yet been considered."
R.Steiner

The financial crisis, the speculative economic behaviour, the worldly economic system's fragility and its disastrous consequences on the real economy have created uncertainty regarding the future economic perspective and lead to look at the economist as the most mistrusting person and at money - the subject of all the economic activity - as the root of the individual detachment from his social life.

Indeed, the economic activity and money are considered the mirrors of the humans' materialistic aims. However, the current economic situation has attracted a number of economist and philosophers together to study the relationship between the economic life and money in order to understand what is ''money'' and why it is so important in our daily life and why it can constrain the real economic activity. The aim of these studies and researches is to link together creativity and money in order to let money serve the aims of the creative activity, instead of constrain it.

Between the 29th and the 30th of October the Balmain Town Hall will host a conference entitled: ''Building a Creative Economy''. The conference's aim is to inform people and specialists about the possibility to revolutionize our economic system starting from the local activity and the personal creativity. During the conference a team of international and national speakers will take part, that are actively involved in analysing the possibility for a debt-free economy, complimentary currencies, ethical banking and more.

This is very interesting, especially as an economics major with a conscience and a high interest in the subject area. Why did it have to be between the 29th and 30th? I missed it. Is it on annually or more often than that?

Hi! Please visit the website of the project, there are all the relevant information. For the moment there are not other events in programs and the event of the 30th of October was the first one. Maybe it will become an annual event, but for the
moment all is uncertain=)
