When you think of camping, you probably think of the countryside, the coast, rolling hills, the sounds and smells of nature, the peace and quiet (apart from the cockle-doodle-do of the cockerels). London probably doesn't spring to mind.
But that could be
about to change. In a joint venture between the
One New Change retail and office complex in the City, and
The Prince's Trust, members of the public (that's you and me) are being given the opportunity to do a sleepover in London. The event takes place on the evening of Saturday 6th August.
The venue is the roof terrace atop One New Change, a stylish new structure which opened just last year and affords some great views of the local area, including a spectacular one of St. Paul's Cathedral, situated a short distance away.
If you think the charity sleepover involves just turning up with your tent and bedding down for the night, think again. The fun evening includes food and liquid refreshments from the popular
Madison restaurant, together with live entertainment up on the terrace.
Saxophonist
YolanDa Brown will be getting everyone into the groove, while The
Flying Karamazov Brothers will be providing the theatrics.
Just prior to hitting the hay, you'll be able to enjoy some bedtime stories told by author
Matthew De Abaitua, reading from his book
The Art of Camping.
Dermalogica will be on hand to shift things down a gear as you prepare for some shut-eye.
The event is a one-off, a chance to meet some new people and most important of all, in aid of an excellent cause: The Prince's Trust (helping to change young lives for the better).
To take part means making a £400 donation to The Prince's Trust - that covers one two-person tent, so effectively you're looking at £200 each. Places are limited to just 60, so you'll have to hurry. All equipment is provided. Just don't forget your toothbrush.
