In these times of austerity cuts and gloomy front page headlines forecasting more economic woes, it's a darn good laugh we need more than anything else.
The
Channel 4 Comedy Gala at the O2 Arena on the 24th of May should see to that.
This enormous event, taking place for the second year in a row, will be raising money for
Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital (they'll be building a new 24-hour operating theatre with the proceeds), so though the tickets come with a hefty price tag (£65), you can be satisfied that it's for
a very worthy cause.
So who's going to be on stage? Well, for starters, one of the UK's hottest comic properties,
Michael McIntyre, will be there.
Rubber-faced (his body is like elastic too)
Lee Evans will also be appearing, as will the hilarious
Jo Brand.
Jack Dee should have everyone in tears with his famously dry humour, and 8 Out of 10 Cats'
Sean Lock is always guaranteed to entertain.
Funnyman
John Bishop will be coming up with some crackers too.
You'll also get to see
Alan Carr,
Andi Osho,
Dara O Briain,
Jack Whitehall,
Jon Richardson,
Jonathan Ross,
Kevin Bridges,
Mark Watson,
Micky Flanagan,
Rhod Gilbert,
Rich Hall,
Sarah Millican,
Shappi Khorsandi – and the line-up continues to grow! See
the Channel 4 website for the most up-to-date list of performers.
If it feels like a while since your funny bone's been tickled, the Channel 4 Comedy Gala Night should be just the ticket.
