The Sydney Opera House continues to play host to some of the best festivals and exhibitions this year; Vivid Sydney 2011 was a mighty success in May, while in September, for the very first time, the Just For Laughs comedy festival will be held in Sydney, and this August, another major event is taking place - Graphic: A Weekend of Graphic Storytelling, Animation and Music.

This festival brings together the very best in comics, animation and illustration, and this year, there is an impressive line-up of acclaimed local and international artists participating in various screenings, public lectures and workshops over the two day festival.



Highlights of the 2011 Graphic program include;

Robert Crumb in conversation with Gary Groth.



Peter Kuper Masterclass: Outside the Box.



Gotye: An Animated Album Preview.



Tekkon Kinkreet - Cult Anime with Live Music By Plaid (WARP), Fourplay and Synergy.



Leading Edge Indie Chinese Animators



Understanding Comics with Scott Mc Cloud: The Art of Visual Communication



Jim Woodring: Please Stand By.



Silent Comics: Original Live Scores Performed to Wordless Comics. Featuring the work of Robert Crumb, Gotye, Plaid (Warp), Nathan Jurevicius (Scarygirl), Peter Kuper (The System/Spy vs Spy), Jim Woodring (Frank), Seekae, Darth Vegas, FourPlay String Quartet and Captain Matchbox.

Masaya Matsuura: Play, Sound and Vision.



Talking with Gods: A Grant Morrison Documentary. (Screening with Statuesque a short film directed by Neil Gaiman, featuring Amanda Palmer).

The program consists of events which are both free and ticketed. Tickets to the various events are sold through the Sydney Opera House website.
