Event: 26/07/2011 - 31/07/2011

I mustn't be as much of a hipster as I was last year 'cause I only just realised that it's Greenwich Summer Sessions o'clock. The good news for me, and for other folks who forgot to set their alarms, there are still tickets available to this week o' outdoor music in the grounds of the Royal Naval College.

Last year's event was the inaugural one – the fact that this is a new addition to the festival scene is why I'm not beating myself up about it too much – and the location and line up were both big draws. This year the location is the same; the line up looks just as promising.

The achingly lovely music of José González is the draw for the first night, on Wednesday the 27th you can see Mark Ronson and Noisettes, on the 28th you can see and hear Status Quo, on Friday the 29th you'll see Squeeze - who, if you're not familiar with their work, sing that song about being 'Cool for Cats', on the 30th the sessions have The Pogues and the Buzzcocks. On the final night you get 'Songs in The Key of London,' which is Blaine Harrison (Mystery Jets), Robyn Hitchcock, Jools Holland, James Hunter, Derek Hussey, Becky Jacobs & Mike Lindsay (of Tunng), Natty, Rico Rodriguez, Chas Smash (Madness), Peggy Sue, Chaz Jankel, Suggs (Madness), Glenn Tilbrook, Kathryn Williams and others. So it's very London-y entertainment actually.

There are three types of tickets available to each night:
General Admission – which is standing
Grandstand – which is sitting in the grandstand
and VIP – which is the best bit of the grandstand with access to a VIP area backstage and the VIP bar.

Apparently its timing coincides with the 365 day mark in the lead up to The Olympics. And they're warning that there will be mentions of The Olympics at the event. So avert your eyes if that's going to offend you.
