If you've seen
Night at the Museum, you may have wondered what the museum is like at night time. Much like the
American Museum of Natural History in the movie, the
Australian Museum (
6 College Street, Sydney) also comes to life after hours.
The
Jurassic Lounge opens on Tuesday nights, offering more mature museum goers the opportunity to enjoy a drink with the dinosaurs. From 5.30pm until 9.30pm, the space is a bar and live music venue that also provides art and new ideas against a backdrop of the museums exhibits.
Much like a museum visit during the day, Jurassic Lounge is designed to encourage visitors to wander around and experience everything. The venue offers an unstructured range of entertainment – there are quirky bands to see, skeletons, native culture and scientific displays to explore and even a
silent disco.
Jurassic Lounge will remain open until 19 April. Admission is $15.00, which includes one free drink, and is limited to over eighteens.
