Okay, Brisbanites, the time has come to dress up in your frilly
finest for the
Karavan International Gypsy Music Festival. It's on at The Hi-Fi on Friday March 2nd.
This is global music at its fabulous best. The lively sounds of gypsy music, between violin, pan-flute, accordion and double bass amongst others, will have all the feet in the house dancing. It's impossible not to.
Catch headline act,
Baro Banda, all the way from Istanbul, and groove to some very
funky underground gypsy roots music. It's wild. Catch a glimpse of their
hand-clapping, heart-pumping sounds.
World music favourites,
Mzaza, will also set the room a-sizzle, the exotic group of musicians featuring French-Moroccan front woman Pauline Maudy singing in many different languages, while the talented multi-instrumentalists in the band play violin, guitar, double bass, accordion, and a range of lesser-known instruments like kamanche tarhu, kaval, and ney. It's crazy, but crazy good.
Other artists, along with DJ Click all the way from Paris, will add their unique musical touch to this very festive festival. It's something delightfully different, it will expand your musical horizons - and indeed uplift the soul.
The Karavan events, brought to you by global music traffickers,
Musiktrafik, are very popular, so get your tickets soon.
