Are you looking for something a little different, and free, to do with the kids during the next school holidays? The Armory Theatre will be showcasing family friendly films, produced by both children and professional filmmakers, from around the world. The theatre, located at the heart of the Armory, was a non-explosives storehouse that has been adapted for use as a flexible, multi-purpose performance space with an audience capacity of 250 people. The theatre has ramp access and is wheelchair friendly.
The Film Fest program consists of works from Cinewest Digital Filmmaking workshops and winners from international children film festivals. Cinewest is a not-for-profit company involved in organizing arts and cultural activities through community cultural development, audience development and screen culture activities with a local, regional, national and international focus.
The day will be conducted in two sessions. The first session, from 10.30am until midday, is recommended for the 8 to 11 year old age group and will showcase short films by, and for, children. Then from 1pm until 2.30pm, for children aged 12 to 14 years, a feature length film specially created for children will be shown.
Kids in the Park Film Fest aims to educate and entertain children through the screening of award winning films from Australia and overseas.
