Fashion is art, darling, and if you don't agree with me then you have no right to tell me that you're interested in fashion. Some people just wear clothes to save themselves from being arrested for walking around naked, but some of us really wear clothes as if we're wearing art. And who designs these clothes that are wearable art? Well, the Italians are quite good at it, though it's not solely their domain of course. But this exhibition focuses on their particular brand of style, looking at the work of some of the most famous Italian designers: Giorgio Armani, Dolce & Gabbana, Salvatore Ferragamo, Missoni, Prada and Gucci.

I bet whoever bought this bag still uses it today - it's gorgeous

The fashion houses themselves have selected what's on display here, from their own archives and collection of images, designs and objet d'art. Picking out defining moments in their histories as they've seen them and offering insight into the passion that goes into every facet of the art that they create.

Many fashion and design exhibitions focus on the creation of the product, but what this one does differently, and with the appropriate level of stile, is to pay attention also, to how this clothing was made desirable and how these businesses prospered and became the lux names they are today. How they sold their wares to us as being the epitome of glamour. And how some of these designs still hold their gorgeousness. Proving that fashion may be fickle but true style is timeless.
