If you enjoy clever, well plotted and well paced comedy shows... steer clear of Dr Professor Neal Portenza. But if you like your comedy absurd, random and a little bit insane, then read on.
(Disclaimer – Dr Professor Portenza is not really a doctor. Or a professor).
Dr Professor Neal Portenza is the alter ego of Melbourne comedian Josh Ladgrove and his hour long show is currently touring the country as part of the national comedy festivals.
Dr Professor Neal Portenza's Interactive Goat Hour is a unique experience that will appeal to fans of shows like
The Mighty Boosh. Those who prefer a more sophisticated comic styling may find themselves a little confused.
The Interactive Goat Hour combines multi-media, slapstick and mime in strange and unusual ways to create a show that is hectic and slightly disjointed. The show makes heavy use of props and audience participation, so it is indeed an 'interactive hour'. Are there goats? You'll have to see for yourself.
You can see the show at the
Melbourne International Comedy Festival, which runs from 31 March until 10 April. Dr Professor Portenza will be performing at the
Tuxedo Cat (
335 Flinders Lane, Melbourne); this is a licensed venue and restricted to over eighteens. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for concession holders.
