Public Teachings with Sogyal Rinpoche

Home > Things to do in Sydney > Public Lectures
Event: 21/03/2011
Regardless whether you meditate regularly or are just thinking of trying it out for yourself, it doesn't get much better than receiving some instruction on the matter directly from the revered Tibetan teacher Sogyal Rinpoche. Let's just say he hangs out with the Dalai Lama and authored a little book you might have heard of, called The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying, so far translated into 31 languages and available in 61 countries.

The subject of the upcoming talk at UNSW is "What Meditation Really Is: Understanding the Mind - The Key to Peace & Happiness." The value of Rinpoche's Tibetan Buddhist teachings lies in their universal application, as the teacher specialises in adapting and clarifying them for modern Western audiences.

Although Sogyal Rinpoche was born in Tibet and raised by the spiritual master Jamyang Khyentse Chökyi Lodrö, he has a profound understanding of Western ways of thinking, having studied at Cambridge and travelled around the world as a teacher for the last 30 years.

The talk is an excellent opportunity to come along and deepen your meditation practice or find out exactly what to expect when you start on your own path of spiritual inquiry.
