The eleventh
Stockwell Festival takes place in Larkhall Park on Saturday 17th September, with the theme for this year's party being "peace, cohesion and inclusion".
The organisers are keen to bring together the people of Stockwell, along with those from surrounding communities, in what they plan to be a celebration of the creativity, diversity and goodwill of everybody visiting.
So what kind of entertainment can you expect at this year's Stockwell Festival? Well, for starters, the focal point of the celebration will be the Pineapple Stage and Dance Floor.
Headlining will be music combo
The Fish Police who, according to their website, "mix a strong 70s punk attitude with a hip-hop swagger and a dash of pop to create original tunes with edge." Talk about diversity - the three-piece band list their musical influences as Kraftwerk, Daft Punk, Bob Marley and Will Smith.
Other stage performers on the day include the Glenbuck Cherry Pickers,
Marcina Arnold & the Love Rats, Dance Starsz, Blessed Soul, C0MB1N4T10N, as well as a bunch of talented street dancers who'll be pulling a multitude of moves purely for your pleasure.
Southside Harmonics, south London's best steel band, will also be in attendance.
Look out for the Giant Peace Wall, organised by
Stockwell Studios and
Art 4 Space. They'll be encouraging festival-goers to paint and draw messages of peace on a giant canvas. So grab something to draw/paint with and get creative on Stockwell's biggest ever peace wall.
Stockwell Stories does what it says on the tin - if you like a decent story (and who doesn't?), come along and enjoy some entertaining tales acted out by a number of performance artists.
If you've ever thought of yourself as a possible future contender for Best Actor at the Oscars, then go and introduce yourself to Stockwell's
Lost Theatre company. Lost Theatre welcomes everyone to take part in its singing and acting workshops which are taking place all day at the festival.
One of the highlights of Stockwell Festival will be the Pineapple Peace Parade, when Lady Pineapple and her baby pineapples lead the colourful parade around the park.
For the sporty types among you, there'll be the Vintage Games area where you can roll back the years by taking part in some old favourites such as the sack race and egg-and-spoon race. Just don't sprain your ankle….
Kids will love the Children's Village where they can take a ride in the exciting Pineapple Car and have a chance to take part in Oasis Play Pedal Car races.
Look out for the
Oasis Go Kart Track too, where you can put your driving skills to the test on the pedal and petrol carts.
There'll be plenty of creative and sporting activities at the
Oasis Cycle Adventure Playground, including the chance to make a costume for the Pineapple Peace Parade. You'll also find face painting here, as well as 'messy' arts and crafts, football and cycling opportunities.
Close to the adventure playground you'll find the
Oasis Nature Garden with an Enchanted Stage where you'll be able to catch a number of acoustic performances. There'll be special sensory trails and treasure hunts starting out from here too.
There's more - lots more. But best you just go along and check it out for yourself. Enjoy yourself and enjoy the best of Stockwell.
The fun starts at 1pm and runs through to about 6pm.
