Spitalfields is home to East London's quirkiest souvenir and antique stalls, with fashion and dance shows in between all year round. Though in May, an event at the normally bustling market will have a much sleepier theme.
The Big Issue foundation has teamed up with Spitalfields to give 240 people a rare chance to sleep on the market square. This is to help raise awareness about being homeless and also coincides with the Big Issue's 20th anniversary. The Big Issue stresses that this opportunity does not compare to what people face of sleeping rough and wants to get as many donations as possible with The Big Sleep.
The event is bound to be a fun celebration to unite the sleepers in the Big Issue cause. Although it may not be the most comfortable of nights, special entertainment will surely bring people together to help everyone get through it.
There is still time to sign up and participants can either go individually, as a group of four or by being sponsored, with the cost of registration going to the foundation. To sign up or to find out more about Big Issue Foundation and The Big Sleep go to
website where you can also make donations.
