After leaving one of Australia's most successful modern rock bands, one might be tempted to retire early and take it easy. But founding
Wolfmother member Myles Heskett isn't content to rest on his laurels.
The Sydney based drummer is also an artist with a show soon to open at
Mart Gallery (
155 Commonwealth Street, Surry Hills).
The Valleys of Ash is a collection of oil paintings and mixed media and is Heskett's second solo exhibition; the first, an assembly of drawing, prints and paintings, was released in 2003.
Myles Heskett is actually a professionally trained artist who graduated from the
National Art School in 1999. He dedicated himself to his sketchbook whilst touring with Wolfmother and a selection of those drawings are now part of a book called
Wolf Trails.
Wolf Trails was published in conjunction with
The Valleys of Ash exhibit and can be purchased from Mart Gallery.
The Valleys of Ash exhibition will be showing from Friday 8 April until Saturday 30 April, except for the Easter long weekend. Mart Gallery is open from 12.00pm until 5.00pm.
