Forest Run
Like a mega-gauntlet for marathon runners, the
Warrior Dash challenges racers to compete not only against each other, but against the treacherous, playfully-sadistic obstacle course. No matter who you are or how you're dressed, all are welcome. Men, women, clowns, Elvis-impersonators, and hobbits of all ages converge at the start line.
The Course
The Warrior Dash is a 3.2-mile course riddled with
13 obstacles, each designed to muddy, soak, and weary runners into submission. This year's New York race includes:
Knee High Hell, a speed race over dozens of tires
• Warrior Wall, a giant wooden hurdle
• Tunnels of Terror, a labyrinthe crawl through dark pipes
• Black Forest, a dirt path winding through trees
• Slithering Swamp, a muddy river bisecting the course
• Walk the Plank, balance beams over the gorge
• Rip Van Winkle, a platform bridge cutting through the forest
• Rio Run, a river run through knee deep waters
• Cargo Climb, up and over the nets
• Flagstone Stack, a rock wall of stacked shale
• Petrifying Plunge, a muddy slip and slide down the race course
• Warrior Roast, a leap over open flames
• Muddy Mayhem, a sludge run through the mud
The WarriorsRacing warriors must be at least 14 years old to participate. Each runner will compete within his/her own age division. However, all racers may choose their own start time, in which each "wave" or group will have a mix of ages.
Registration must be completed online by Sunday, July 17, 2011. At the time of registration, racers must decide whether they will run on Saturday for $65 or Sunday for $55. Waves begin at 9:30am and continue every 30 minutes until 5:30 pm on Saturday, 4 pm on Sunday. No teams are allowed but runners may dress to impress in their dashing digs, weirdest wardrobe, or fabulous fantasy garb.

The Starting LineEach runner is responsible for morning check-ins before their race as well as reporting to the start line 15 minutes before their wave begins. Before each start, runners must put on their racer bib and chip timer. Ask for reinforcing "zip ties" to affix the chip to your shoe. Don't forget photo identification.
A friend may pick up your runner's packet but check their website for guidelines. You'll need ID and a signed release form.
The Bragging RightsAn awards ceremony begins one hour after the last wave finishes. Prizes include:
• An engraved steel Warrior helmet goes to the top 3 male and female participants
• A steel Warrior trophy goes to each of the top 3 males and females of their own age division
• A special prize is awarded to the most ridiculous costume
• A special prize is awarded to the best warrior beard
The Festivities
Thirty minutes before the first wave, music and festivities begin. Bands play throughout the days. Food and beverages are on sale. Viewing areas are marked along the start line and finishing stretch. Spectators and dogs are not allowed on the course. No entry fee for non-racers but a $10 parking fee is required for each car space, cash only. At the end of their race, each warrior over 21 will receive a complimentary beer.
